SBU Surfactants Asia has two manufacturing sites in Singapore. They are located on the petrochemcial and chemical manufacturing hub known as Jurong Island off the southwestern coast of Singapore. Products manufactured here are shipped to the entire Asia Pacific region.
The quaternary plant, which officially opened in March 2004, produces Arquad® quaternary ammonium salts, which are used in applications such as fabric softeners and hair conditioners.
The other plant, the performance surfactants plant, produces amine ethoxylates, which are used as surfactants in agricultural products. This plant was acquired from Crompton Industrial Specialties in 2002. The PSP Plant completed a significant expansion in early 2005 increasing its capacity and widening the product range.
Earlier this year (2005) we completed the roll out of Behavioral Based Safety, which we have been working with since 2000. BBS is based on peer observations of employees' safe and unsafe behavior in specific situations. The goal is to act more safely and to identify unsafe behavior to prevent accidents.
